Meals after work: the way forward

I've been working up in London recently, and with that comes the opportunity of actually doing something after work with colleagues rather than just dash off home. And so last week, in the space of two evenings, I went out for two meals with workmates.

On Wednesday we left the office, jumped in a cab, and got dropped of somewhere near St. Paul's. We were assured by Mizen that he really did know where he was going, and one phone call and a bit of an uncertain meander later, we arrived at the Bengal Tiger. The food was excellent, and the waiter was happy to accept off-the-menu orders; Lamb Keema Madras is something I'll certainly be ordering for myself sometime.

The next night we were out for drinks on a work tab. However, as with all good things that came to an end, so around 8pm Mizen's suggestion of yet another "ruby" was quickly evolved to a chinese. This time we were much less certain of where we were going, and the steady downpour of rain didn't help matters, but after heading down a few empty streets and past a few soul-less bars the distinctive vision of gold lettering on a green background lifted our spirits: the Sinh Le. I was suitably impressed by the hot and soup (which was very welcome after a light soaking from the rain), followed by the set menu with Tsingtao beer. Fairly expensive (I wriggled out of playing creditcard roulette) but good food and good service.

Sadly my stint of working in London is over for now. I'm sure Bracknell will be just as exciting.
