Jongleurs

Last night I caught a train up to Clapham Junction for a mate's birthday at Jongleurs Comedy Club (Camden).

After a bit of mingling at a nearby house, we flocked over en-mass to enjoy a top night (albeit expensive) compared by the very funny Simon Fox. I can't really remember the names of the acts, but there were five of them and were all good, especially the final one (again, can't remember the name).

After that, I had a quality chicken shish kebab from the place over the road, got a dodgy minicab over to Balham, and had too little sleep. Ace.

I did take loads of photo's during the night which I will try to get online asap.

Equilibrium - Worst Film Seen In A Long Time

I went to see Equilibrium tonight. Don't bother, unless you don't mind a film so flawed and boring as this.

Highlight: at the end, there was utter silence as the credits rolled, except for Paul's slow and justified handclap.

Crap.

Before I Died I Saw The Ring

Yet another trip to the local Odeon with Paul and Rich, this time to see the remake of the Japanese film "Ringu" (The Ring).

I think we all thought it was pretty good. Certainly classed as a horror film, it made a wuss like me jump and cak myself quite a few times, and featured some great filming (check out the horse on the boat. Don't think that gives too much away...)

Worth checking out if you can.

Notting Hill Arts Club

I went up to London yesterday to meet up with friends I hadn't seen for a while (housemates from 2001-2002). After a few drinks, some pizza, and a frankly abismal display on Grand Theft Auto : Vice City, we jumped on the tube and ended up at a trendy little place called the Notting Hill Arts Club a stone's throw from Notting Hill Gate station. Apparently, Saturday night is South-American style music, and it was FUTURO FLAMENCO that was making the dancefloor sway last night.

Having been to mainly dance/cheese music clubs it was quite a new experience for me but I did enjoy myself before I had to race off to catch a train home. We had walked straight in a 9:45, but I passed quite a queue on my way out at 11:00 so if you fancy going make sure you get there early. If you fancy a pub beforehand there's the Old Swan between the club and the tube station.

So that's another great night out in London for me. I really should do it more often.

Writer Extraordinaire

So after almost 5 years at university, I've finally pulled my finger out and written an article published in issue 1053 of barefacts, the University of Surrey Students' Union weekly newspaper.

In the words of the editor, it's a "Cosmo type guide to help figure out whether your year will be a harmonious one or not" with reference to the recent release of the accommodation paper for students.

I'm mostly [a]'s in case you were wondering...

Adaptation

Went to the cinema with Rich and Paul last night to see Adaptation. Interesting. As with a lot of films, I was bored at first, then got really into it, and finally was disapointed with the ending. Worth a watch though.

VOTE

I've done my bit and voted in this year's sabatical elections, although being the traditionalist I am, I went for the old fashioned paper vote rather than use the new-fangled online technology. It'll never take on.

Death to comments

Decided it was best to take off comments because

a) there's not really anything to comment on at the moment and

b) knowing my luck I'll probably get some lame retard posting cak. That's my job.

-sigh-

'New' look?

I decided to at least move away from the default stylesheet provided with MT (nice tho it is) and go for something different.
