Just as friends of mine have been victims, tonight I've had to take action myself after receiving an over-quota warning from my hosting company.

It turns out that my monthly bandwidth has been exceded this month by a barage of trackback ping attemps from a battalion of IP addresses. Ah. Well, I've made a change and will have to keep an eye on the situation to see what happens...
